The beauty of Malaysia is it’s diversity of culture, food, and nature. Located south of Thailand and north of Singapore, the weather is typical of Southeast Asia’s tropical hot and humid climate. Expect to pay around $500 USD per month for a fully furnished apartment in Malaysia’s largest city Kuala Lumpur.
I found the monorail (train) to be very crowded and not as extensive as Bangkok or Taipei. I recommend using the bus system. After crossing from Singapore into Malaysia, I took a bus from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur. The cost was about 31 RM or about $6.49 USD for a one way 4 hour trip.
When I got to Kuala Lumpur, I headed over to the street markets in Bukit Bintang. The food at the Jalan Alor street market is plentiful and delicious.

An excellent way to see panaromic views of Kuala Lumpur is on top of the KL Tower.

Malaysia is a melting pot of cultures, religions, and languages. Nine miles north of Kuala Lumpur is one of the most well-known and traveled sites in the country called Batu Caves. Inside the limestone cave structure are Hindu temples and shrines.

Murugan is a the Hindu god of war. At the top of the 277 steps on the left of the statue is the entrance to the caves where the temples are. On the way up the steps, you will be confronted by many monkeys.

Other than caves, there are also tropical rainforests. East of Kuala Lumpur in Pahang, I captured this view from Mount Terisek or Bukit Terisek inside Taman Negara National Park.
