I recommend living in Phuket or visiting Phang Nga Bay. Phuket is an island in southwest Thailand bordered by the Andaman Sea. Known for its white sand beaches and mountains, it is possible to swim, jungle hike, and visit temples in the same day. Food options are abundant as are lodging options.
If staying long term, monthly living expenses could be as low as $1000 USD. Apartments can go as low as $150 USD per month. Renting a motorbike is about $120 USD per month and would be more useful here than in Bangkok.

A unique experience I had while in Phuket was touring Phang Nga Bay. You can witness bioluminescent algae light up the ocean during the Twilight Sea Canoe tour. I’m glad I took a chance with GetYourGuide.com to book the event. Shuttle service and meals were included in the price.

I liked Karon Sea Sands Resort for it’s buffet breakfast and close proximity to Karon beach and restaurants. Karon is known to be one of the quieter beaches in Phuket. To explore Phuket hotels, please use the search box below.
I also recommend traveling to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Sinagpore.
